ORIENTATION
[When you start to stir from your slumber, you awaken to the smell of dust and rotted wood. Your bed is far from comfortable -- lumps in the mattress, a tattered blanket that barely keeps you warm and a pillow almost as hard as a rock-- and you'll immediately see there are others in your room with you.
All of you are confused, surely. "Where am I?" "What place is this?" Questions like that stir through your mind while you take in your surroundings. Something might catch your eye before anything else, though. A coloured chest tied with a bow, a large gift tag is attached to it with your name on it. There's one for everyone in each dorm, and if you open it you'll find:
An old, worn school uniform.
A colourful costume.
And a pamphlet with information about you, about your stay in this Academy, and a map of the layout of the school and the training grounds outside. The descriptions are vague, leaving out important details about your new super powers called "Quirks", a bland description about how you were selected to join the Academy called "VA" (no explanation what it means), and even the map has lame descriptions of locations that don't really give you a good idea of where you're staying.
Before you can start exploring, or chatting away with your neighbors, a voice rings over old intercoms. It sounds low and comforting, like a long lost friend. But there's something about that that feels.. unsettling. A feeling in your gut that this voice was anything but friendly.
"Welcome, students. You must be very confused, but I assure you I'll be able to answer all the questions you have in just a few minutes.
For now, relax, explore, and meet your new classmates who will be staying with you during this semester.
Oh, but..... whatever you do, don't enter the dining room."
The intercom cuts off, leaving you with a cryptic message to think about on top of.. everything else you're dealing with right now.]

Anywhere
My name is Sonia Nevermind.
[She dodges the part about saying where she was before waking up, because...she's not sure of that much]
It's rather reassuring to hear you say such things. Thank you very much!

[Likewise, Mirio will mirror her bow whether it's needed or not, bringing a hand up to sweep over his hair to the back of his neck, his blonde cowlick bouncing back into place.]
It doesn't pay to let yourself become overwhelmed and panicked, even though it's understandable...it's harder to think straight when it's needed if you do that.
It seems that there are a lot of us here...and that has to be for a reason.
[Like...the whole thing about being at an academy? He doesn't buy it for a second. This is a kidnapping and whoever they are is obviously playing them for fools, but he won't say that much.]
no subject
If anything, going through a killing game does prepare you for some ugly things]
In those cases that's what friends are for. We're all strangers right now, but it won't be long before bonds start to form!
[Hopefully]
Really? How many of us would you say are here? ...sixteen?
[She's really focused on finding similarities between Monokuma's modus operandi and...whatever's going on here. Anything that could indicate the bear is involved in this]
no subject
The mention of friends...he can't help but actually smile genuinely at that, exhaling on a laugh.]
That's the spirit. Why make enemies when you can make friends, right?
[Famous last words.]
As for that...I'm not sure. I'd say there are more, actually...I checked the dorms as I left them and they all seem to be the same size. With as many as there are, and them holding...maybe six per room? There definitely has to be more.
no subject
So many...? [That's different, and pretty worrying because it's a lot more people than before. Sonia looks rather disheartened] Someone who can bring so many people at once has to be a rather powerful person or organization.

[He has his doubts about it being the League. They're powerful, but powerful enough to scoop up over thirty people from different places all over? Not likely.
And why? It seems like far too much work with no real motive behind it...]
There's no use in speculating too much when I'm sure our host will be showing themselves soon. We'll just need to be prepared for when he does.
no subject
[It'll be the way to measure how bad things are, really]
no subject
I couldn't agree more. Forgive me if I'm being too presumptuous, but...was there a reason you asked if there were sixteen of us here?
no subject
[She hadn't realized she was slipping until Mirio asked that. Should she talk about it?
...
...no, she shouldn't, she concludes. She doesn't want to alarm Mirio, she has no reason to believe the current situation is anything similar to the killing game she went through not long ago. It's already starting to seem likely this has nothing to do with Monokuma, after all. They may be a tad safer. Somehow.
Still, she can't just say nothing]
...this isn't the first time I have been brought somewhere against my will. I'm sorry, I cannot give more details right now.
no subject
[Mirio's expression turns immediately sympathetic.]
I'm very sorry that happened to you. It's something someone should have to go through at all, much less more than once.
no subject
Please do not apologize. Some would even say it's 'the hazards of the job'
[Being a princess kind of makes you a high-profile person, although her status as a princess didn't really have anything to do with it]
no subject
[To warrant being kidnapped, he means.]
no subject
[Which makes her stay here even more frustrating]
