ORIENTATION
[When you start to stir from your slumber, you awaken to the smell of dust and rotted wood. Your bed is far from comfortable -- lumps in the mattress, a tattered blanket that barely keeps you warm and a pillow almost as hard as a rock-- and you'll immediately see there are others in your room with you.
All of you are confused, surely. "Where am I?" "What place is this?" Questions like that stir through your mind while you take in your surroundings. Something might catch your eye before anything else, though. A coloured chest tied with a bow, a large gift tag is attached to it with your name on it. There's one for everyone in each dorm, and if you open it you'll find:
An old, worn school uniform.
A colourful costume.
And a pamphlet with information about you, about your stay in this Academy, and a map of the layout of the school and the training grounds outside. The descriptions are vague, leaving out important details about your new super powers called "Quirks", a bland description about how you were selected to join the Academy called "VA" (no explanation what it means), and even the map has lame descriptions of locations that don't really give you a good idea of where you're staying.
Before you can start exploring, or chatting away with your neighbors, a voice rings over old intercoms. It sounds low and comforting, like a long lost friend. But there's something about that that feels.. unsettling. A feeling in your gut that this voice was anything but friendly.
"Welcome, students. You must be very confused, but I assure you I'll be able to answer all the questions you have in just a few minutes.
For now, relax, explore, and meet your new classmates who will be staying with you during this semester.
Oh, but..... whatever you do, don't enter the dining room."
The intercom cuts off, leaving you with a cryptic message to think about on top of.. everything else you're dealing with right now.]

Ooooookay... yeah, gonna go ahead and guess I didn't make it into the next Smash. What the heck is going on?
[ She takes some time to wander around, during which she might well approach you. "You" being whatever person she runs into, because apparently she has absolutely no qualms about initiating social interaction. What, NPCs are going to start talking by themselves? ]
Hi there! Say, this is probably a really stupid question, but do you know what's going on here? Or what's definitely going to be a stupid question, have you seen any... color-coded objects or animals someone could feasibly collect?

[It's less confusing that he's woken up in a dorm, and moreso in a dorm that isn't one he's familiar with. The oldness of it, the fact that it's communal and not single-room like those at U.A...
But Mirio has been around the block more than a few times. Despite the concern already roiling beneath the surface, he does not panic. He keeps calm, and his confusion never quite makes it to his expression. If anything he just looks calmly surprised by his new surroundings as he pushes himself up out of the uncomfortable bed, stretching his arms briefly out in front of him.]
Hah, well! This certainly isn't where I was before!
[And even if his outward demeanor doesn't betray it- he doesn't want to alarm the others in here with him- Mirio's immediately on high alert. Something's very wrong.]
B) Hallway
[It's the voice over the intercom that encourages Mirio to leave his dorm once he's through speaking with those he's sharing it with, his hands balled into fists at his sides as he walks with his usual swagger, though anyone with a sharp eye on them might notice that the teen's fists are held so tight that his knuckles have turned white. He ignored the costume and uniform in his trunk, both things that raised more questions than answers, remaining in his proper uniform from U.A. instead. He's reading the pamplet as he goes, and as he reaches the part about Quirks...
He slows to a near standstill in the middle of the hallway, which is probably an issue for whoever is ahead of or around him. He's a tall fellow, built like a brick-house and not easily shouldered around...but once he does notice he's blocking the path, he'll hold up a hand and quickly step aside.]
Oh, pardon me! Sorry for standing in the way, I got caught up reading here...
[His smile is bright, broad. It doesn't quite reach his eyes, but it's there.]
C) Anywhere pretty much
[Mirio is a force of nature. Not to say that he's obtrusive or hard to get along with, not even close...actually, he's quite friendly to anyone he comes across, and when he speaks it's with a cadence that you can't help but feel soothed by. It comes from years of training, learning how to act in emergency situations in ways that prevent wide-spread panic and mass hysteria. And if you happen to see him now, he'll be doing...well, just that. Trying his best to keep order as he's able while probing for information all the while.]
...no, I'm afraid I'm not sure what's going on myself. But don't you worry, we'll figure it out! There's a lot here to be combed over, and I doubt that our mysterious voice will keep us in the dark for very long.
[And if this is what he's worried it is, well. Things are going to go from zero to ten in a fucking hurry.]
My name is Mirio Togata. I was actually in a dorm at a different school before this one, just...obviously not here.

[After eventually recovering from that, he could be found wandering around with a critical frown at nearly everything—reading through the pamphlet, scrutinizing the map, but in particular he was lingering outside the dining room.]

Diana tries to remain composed as she's panicking inwardly. where is she? what is happening? who was that person on the intercom? where is her wand?
she looks around at the other confused faces in her dorm room before getting out of her bed. Diana takes time to read the pamphlet and sighs. this is scary. she doesn't see anyone from Luna Nova anywhere.
without a word, she walks out of Girl Dorm A to start looking for the source of the voice. you may find her wandering in the hallway or poking her head outside. this place is a dump]

[And good morning to you too, Izzy. That's how she announces her presence to girls dorm A and probably anybody outside, currently digging through the "present" chest. Before she can even really react to the dossier or uniform or whatever, she's already whipping around to point at somebody randomly. Pointing with a sharp, sharp claw.]

Yeah those things aren't meant to hold 286 pounds/130 kilos of pure android and as 9S moves and wakes up that bed is gonna give way. At least it creaks ominously and loudly so you should be able to move? Or he'll just land on the bottom bunk with a cry and a groan, if the bed's empty.]
Ow...that's gonna hurt...
[He'll have a moment where he realizes it should hurt at all later.
Like around the time Big Weird Ass Voice is done talking at them and boy, he does not like that. He does not like that at all. That sure brings back some unpleasant memories, which makes him remember oh yeah, what the fuck is he doing here? Are the Red Girls fucking with him again?
So yeah, 9S will be found in a few places! Perhaps outside Boy Dorm B, having a Moment. Perhaps in the library, looking for answers.
And eventually yeah he'll be wandering outside the the dining room because everyone else is and he's bored. Fuck that library, it's garbage.]

Mirio voice: I've lost my boy | III | PROBABLY MANGA SPOILERS IN HERE just as a warning
He doesn't have much time to dwell on it, all of that cast aside when he catches sight of someone very familiar trying his hardest to avoid everyone else. [Swim Swim wakes up earlier than everyone else, hiding completely under her blanket as soon as she sees the others. She's on a top bunk, so this manages to conceal her. She's so quiet, it may not even seem like there's another roomie up there.
It's not until she reads everything that she makes a decision. She's addressed by her Magical Girl name in this, so she needs to assume that form. Fortunately the vague description was enough that she understood it, and so here she is... sitting up finally, with pink curls and a white swimsuit. Now she's got to make sure no one saw that. First, she picks up her pillow. With that, she jumps off the side of the bed, landing easily, and peering at her sleeping roommates, utterly silent. This may be a creepy thing to wake up to while the announcement starts.]
for everyone else;
[Swim Swim is very obedient in not heading to the dining room, although she would like breakfast, so kitchen is where she's at first. Dried food seems like the easiest to eat - she's just going to sit here, crunching on instant ramen straight out of the package. Yum.
Then later she'll do some actual exploring and find the pool. You knew this was coming. She's just staring at it with deep regret. Why would someone do this.
Overall though her calm expression and demeanor make it seem like she is pretty accepting of this situation. Bit odd when they've all been kidnapped, isn't it? Also, she is still very much in a swimsuit, so that's weird.]
Sorry about the pool.
Urgh, what a waste. I'm fairly sure this entire facility's been left to rot.

[So the first thing he did, before even talking to anyone else, was to open the chest. And after sifting through the items in there and glancing through the pamphlet, he picks up the costume and stares intently at it for a moment.
...except nothing happens, and Ango blinks in confusion.
It is only then that he finally takes notice of the people around him, giving them all a questioning look that seems to say "What's going on?"]
Right outside the dining room
[So he had heard the message, and he would heed the warning given. But still, his curiosity got the better of him, and he went up close to it to visually inspect it. He holds up a hand like he is about to touch the door, but decides against it and pulls his hand back. Best to not even risk touching it, he decides.
But he does touch other things in the nearby area. Light switches, hand rails, other doors to the other dorms, you name it. And each time he pulls his hand away, he makes a dissatisfied noise. Whatever he is trying to do, it's not successful.]
Anywhere
[Now it's time to focus on the people. Ango is a quiet person, so he can get around reasonably well without drawing too much attention to himself. He's going to spend some time observing people, watching their interactions with each other. He's trying to see who already knows each other and how everyone is reacting to the situation, to gather information on what is going on and what everyone here is like.
Of course, while he tends to be inconspicuous, he isn't completely invisible. Feel free to call him out on listening to other people's conversations.]
Anywhere, part 2
[After having sufficiently gathered information from just watching, Ango will finally speak up.]
I think it is safe to say that everybody here was not expecting to be here. It is probably safe to say that we have all been kidnapped.
With that in mind, we will need to pool resources to effectively respond to the situation. Does anyone here have anything they would like to share on either the building, the voice on the intercom, or any of the other people present?

She stays there for a while, ostensibly surveying the room with a slightly wide eye, and tries not to disturb her bunkmate until the announcement comes on. And then, well... there's really nothing for it. Time to contemplate her sudden school transfer life.
She can be found:
1. Slipping carefully down to the floor from her bunk and giving her bunkmate and roommates a single thoughtful glance before she moves toward the nearest chest. It takes her a moment to find her own, and then she just sort of. Stands there and stares at it, tapping the ribbon briefly with her foot.
She might just end up in a standoff with the thing for a while.
2. Exploring the place with map in hand and nothing else, still dressed in her own school uniform with a bundle of the papers from the chest carefully folded and tucked under her arm. She'll be particularly looking at the library and kitchen.
3. Wandering around the classroom hallways, staring a bit blankly at the numbers above the doors. Or you can catch her staring even more blankly at the WELCOME VILLAINS message scrawled on the blackboard. She's usually very quiet and moves like a ghost, but here she'll finally murmur something to herself:]
... Only two classes.
[There's something a bit odd in the way she says that, but is that really the main issue here.]
3
[He looks over, and the first thing he fixates on is her eye... Or apparent lack thereof. Curious...]

- Closed To BOY DORM C -
[ As soon as Choromatsu wakes up, it's immediately apparent to him that something is wrong. What's that terrible smell? Why is it cold? Wait, this isn't his futon. Where is he--?!
With that, his eyes snap open and he jolts upright--
And he hits his head on the ceiling. ]
OW-- FU--!
[ Choro falls back onto the bed (the bunk bed?), rubbing his head. As if banging his head on the ceiling wasn't bad enough, he now has to wrack his brain to make some sense of this.
And now there's this voice coming from somewhere, talking about, among other things, students and not going into the dining room.
And as soon as the voice is done talking...
... ]
...WHAT?!
[ What's going on??? ]
- Open To All -
[ Eventually Choro dusts himself off and leaves the dorm. And wow this entire place just like the dorms, looking like nobody's been using it for years.
Okay, so, this is happening now. He's suddenly stuck in this abandoned-looking place with no memory of how he got here. Fantastic.
And where are his brothers?
Right now, he's just standing out in the dorm hallway, trying to read one of the maps. It's not a good map, but it's better than nothing. He really doesn't want to somehow walk into the dining room by accident and have something else horrible happen to him; this is already a shitty start to the day as it is.
And then there's the pamphlet. Guess he should probably read that now.
He tucks the map under his arm and gets the pamphlet out of his pocket and reads it.
...It doesn't take long for a look of disbelief to plaster his face. ]

The voice only make the numbness settle in. Alright, Sonia, there will be time for freaking out later in private. Mostly out of reflex she walks out of the room and goes in direction of the dining room, just to stand near the wall opposite to the entrance, eyes on the door. It was a long shot, but she had hoped to find even a small clue of what was going on. No traces of black and white on the door, that's for sure.
If someone tries to approach the entrance to the dining room, she'll warn kindly, but firmly:]
I don't recommend disobeying the voice's request.
[That can only put you in danger. Even though she doesn't recognize anyone here, if she can do something to avoid anyone from being in danger right away then she'll do it!]

I wasn't planning on it. With as rundown as the rest of the building is, I had assumed there was something especially badly broken or in disarray inside. It's not worth the risk of getting hurt.

[Pyrrha wakes up in pain, which makes it a bit more confusing when she discovers some of the uncomfortableness was from the lumpy bunk bed she was laying in. After staying in a dorm for a good year now, she's immediately aware of the fact that this is not that dorm.
Her move to climb out of bed was hampered immediately by the soreness in her limbs, and the weight on her... soul? Something about it just seemed heavier, or not quite there as usual. In any case, Pyrrha's now tumbled out of one of the bottom beds that were arranged in the room, and was going through the motions of trying to pick herself off the floor.]
Ow... what...?
[B: Wandering around]
[She couldn't stay. Not while there was danger everywhere. The intercom message only heightened her panic, because surely nobody could be relaxing right now! Not with all the things that happened!
With the pamphlet only glanced at before she shoves it into a pocket, Pyrrha wandering as quickly as possible through this building, searching for... Well, everything; her friends were missing, and her weapons too, although she was fairly certain her lance was destroyed. Right, she would have to find a weapon in case the Grimm showed up- Oh, it's a person!]
Ex... excuse me! [She's almost out of breath, hurrying towards someone she doesn't recognize. Was this another school or a shelter?] It's really important! Are we still in Vale? Was the city evacuated? I-I have to get back there!

[ It was pretty clear that she didn't have her original powers anymore, and that, out of anything else, is making Junko worry the most. She's always had them. For as long as she can remember. If she did, she could--say, clean up this filthy pool in an instant. Look at it. It's disgusting.
So clearly she should be sticking her hand into the water and coming back with a handful of brown water and dead leaves.
Go. Dissipate. Purify back into clean water.

Hmmm, I hear...nothing at all resembling the angry thrashing of another room being wrecked. Mysterious.
[ this one is. a bit of an odd duck. ]

[ Hm, hm, hm... Well, Ibara doesn't much like situations that are out of his control, and this is about as far from it as he can get. Beyond that, this setting feels a little too familiar to a place he left a long time ago. But he's nothing if not resourceful, and the familiar feeling just means he already has some idea of how to deal with this, so deal he shall.
Anyway, those chests seem like the most logical place to start, and-- ah, here's one with his name on the tag! He moves it over to his bed before going around to take a look at the other tags. No familiar names, but oh well. ]
If you do not mind giving me your attention for just a moment, I believe there should be one of these here for each of us! If you would be so kind as to tell me your names, I can sort them all out for us.
[ Let him be Santa on your worst Christmas morning ever. ]
OUTSIDE THE DINING ROOM
[ Here's one more person standing a little ways back from the door and watching everyone who comes by.
If anyone pays him any notice, he'll smile brightly and wave. ]
Haha, it almost seems like reverse psychology, doesn't it? Perhaps he really just wants to see which among us is the most willing to break rank and take a risk... ☆ I wonder kind of reward might be waiting?

[Everyone is definitely a little uh... perturbed by all of this. But one kid seems particularly put off by all of this to an... extreme extent. One of his hands is pressed to the side of his face, the scarred side of his face, and he looks extremely disturbed. You can probably hear him mutter "my father's Quirk" or something like that. When he notices you. He'll drop his hand, quickly regaining control, and go over to you.]
You. Your Quirk. Is something wrong with it too?
Outside the Dining Hall.
[Later, Shouto will be outside the dining hall. You know, the place they were told not to go. For a few moments it seems like he's just contemplating the situation and isn't going to do something brash.
Just kidding. He's reaching for the door handle to see if he can just yank it open.]
So, they don't want us going in here, huh?
[Maybe catch him before he like gets himself killed.]

[If you're a dormie, then your wakeup experience will definitely be colored by a strange grey teenager who is clearly having some kind of mental breakdown. So far it's not a verbal mental breakdown so much as he's just sort of clutching his head and clenching his teeth and making a hissing sound. Enjoy it while it lasts, because once he gets verbal again, this will seem positively peaceful.]
exploring
[A little later, after the intercom announcement, Karkat can be found exploring -- by which I mean wandering the hallways, giving an incredibly suspicious look to every single person and every single thing. If you happen to come near him, he's giving you the eye like he expects you to suddenly jump out and attack, but will nonetheless try to talk to you.]
Yeah, I don't know about you, but I for one am feeling incredibly relaxed.

That was all Connor's could read before his lines and lines of commands jumbled into a scrambled mess. Immediately he knew this wasn't a normal 'wake up'. First of all, he didn't remember being shut down. 'Dying' either. Last he recalled, he'd left Hank at the station, ready to confront the leader of deviants, to solve his case, to fulfill his purpose of being made.
And now he was here. But where was here?
Connor's eyes open, looking up at a rotting ceiling. He doesn't recognize this place, scouring his memory banks of all he had. He doesn't know where he is, simply because he is denied to know. He quickly runs the command again and is given the repeated answer that he is indeed, disconnected from Cyberlife.
Odd. That's never happened before. Ever.
Connor sits up and looks around. A room. Several beds. All equally grungy as his own. A kids room perhaps? There are chests... probably the most colorful things in this room. Perhaps a dorm instead? He notes the chest nearest to his own bed and has that programmed detective like urge to start poking about. He stands with little trouble -all motor functions and biocomponents optimal; that was something at least- and begins to inspect the contents. His LED on his temple flickered with hues of yellow with each sentence he reads from the pamphlet.
This information...No. It made no sense. Quirks? Super Powers? Was this the reason for his scrambled command prompts? What was VA? Why was there a training ground for an academy? Did this mean there were other 'students'? Were they like him and taken? What was the point-
Before he could gather his thoughts to analyze, an old scratchy intercom blared a voice. A voice that was no doubt the person behind his current predicament. Friendly? But... sinister. Smart. Only someone as such could ever orchestrate something so extravagant. It was very rare for Connor to be caught completely off guard. And yet, here he is, listening to some weird instructions and being forced to participate in an academy?!
And that realization made the whole situation terribly undeniable. This wasn't some new simulation. This wasn't some glitch as far as he could tell. This was real. He didn't know where he was, or if anyone knew he was missing. He needs answers. N̶ o̴ w̵.̷. His line to Cyberlife, to his source of information was broken. He couldn't reach the outside world. Is this what it's like to be human? Connor doesn't like. He doesn't like it at all. And that fact did something to give a haze of static across his vision and an unneeded hitch of air into his chest. His LED flickered a maddening red.
>S̴O̴F̵T̶W̷A̵R̶E̵ ̶I̴N̶S̷T̵A̴B̴I̴L̷I̴T̵Y̸ ︽
The notification jerks Connor out of his void of unending thoughts, blinking away the static. This was would probably be where Hank would tell him to 'get his fucking shit together'. There was no use to sitting in a grimy room pondering the lack of answers. He was, after all built to find answers. And find them he shall.
Connor left the contents of the chest back where he found them, straightening up his Cyberlife issued tie and heading for the the door outside of his room. Dorm. Prison. As Hank would say: Whatever. He had a new mystery to solve. And the sooner he understood it, the sooner he could get home and complete his true mission.]

A
[Connor has since been wandering the hallway of the the academy, frequently stopping and staring about, scanning and filing away information to his memory, trying to take in anything and everything to understand this mystery.]
B
[He may also be found in the courtyard, fixated on the overgrown fauna, maybe poking at a flower curiously, or spacing out (scanning) around the yard.]
C
[Conner can be seen in the library as well, looking about the ruined books in equal fascination and disappointment, not finding the clues he's seeking.]
B; tua spoilers
That's how awful his reality is.
Somehow, Klaus had missed Connor in their dorm, but he sees him now.. looking at a plant. Cheerfully, seeming unperturbed by their situation, he approaches the other man. That is a man, right? Right. ]
Yeah. I've been wondering if those things are safe to smoke too.

[Dave can be found . . . stacking cans. In lieu of absolutely anything better to do? He's just. Taking cans of food, and making stacks of them, in the vague shape of a city. Or a small town, perhaps made out of cans. It almost could be called a Can Town, if one were so inclined.
Anyway, if you catch him doing this, he looks slightly embarrassed, but just shrugs.]
Oh, sup. It's just-- Habit.
B. CYOA/Wandering
[Dave seems a little aimless, but if you've managed to run into him and (I'm so sorry) have somehow gotten him talking, it might have wandered down a bit of a bird walk. Somehow, you've ended up at the end of a very long and rambling rant about . . . apparently school?]
So, I'm just saying, feels weird-- Is this just what High School is like? What the fuck do I even know, I've got an eighth-grade education and I'm working the hell out of it right now. Maybe this shit is just what High School is like and we're all immediately flipping shit with no real basis.

But clearly this is just some kind of dream, right? It's very detailed, but dreams always feel that way when you're in one.]
Oh...this won't do at all.
[Oh, but the chest! That's a nice bit of color in such a dreary world. She goes over her items each with a thoughtful look. Neither outfit gets put on--her blue layered dress will work just fine thank you. (Although maybe later she'll opt for pants anyway.) The pamphlet even seems silly unto itself. She doesn't have powers. Oh, but there's a map and some other information. Obviously that's going with her.
And after she's properly introduced herself to her roomies, then it's time to go wandering about the property. Goodness, it's nothing like the classrooms she's used to. She's very careful, trying not to touch anything too dirty, clutching the map to her chest and occasionally glancing down at it. Obviously she looks very concerned at best about all of this, but upon running into someone else, she brightens immediately.]
Oh, hello! Are you supposed to be a student, too? It's a pleasure to meet you; my name is Maria!
wandering
So caught up in this train of thought, she almost doesn't notice the young girl she'd come across. The bright and cheerful greeting grabbed her attention immediately. That wasn't something she expected in a place like this, right now.]
W-well, I'm Pyrrha, and it's nice to meet you as well, Maria. Uh, and no, I'm not a student here.
