ORIENTATION
[When you start to stir from your slumber, you awaken to the smell of dust and rotted wood. Your bed is far from comfortable -- lumps in the mattress, a tattered blanket that barely keeps you warm and a pillow almost as hard as a rock-- and you'll immediately see there are others in your room with you.
All of you are confused, surely. "Where am I?" "What place is this?" Questions like that stir through your mind while you take in your surroundings. Something might catch your eye before anything else, though. A coloured chest tied with a bow, a large gift tag is attached to it with your name on it. There's one for everyone in each dorm, and if you open it you'll find:
An old, worn school uniform.
A colourful costume.
And a pamphlet with information about you, about your stay in this Academy, and a map of the layout of the school and the training grounds outside. The descriptions are vague, leaving out important details about your new super powers called "Quirks", a bland description about how you were selected to join the Academy called "VA" (no explanation what it means), and even the map has lame descriptions of locations that don't really give you a good idea of where you're staying.
Before you can start exploring, or chatting away with your neighbors, a voice rings over old intercoms. It sounds low and comforting, like a long lost friend. But there's something about that that feels.. unsettling. A feeling in your gut that this voice was anything but friendly.
"Welcome, students. You must be very confused, but I assure you I'll be able to answer all the questions you have in just a few minutes.
For now, relax, explore, and meet your new classmates who will be staying with you during this semester.
Oh, but..... whatever you do, don't enter the dining room."
The intercom cuts off, leaving you with a cryptic message to think about on top of.. everything else you're dealing with right now.]

Mirio voice: I've lost my boy | III | PROBABLY MANGA SPOILERS IN HERE just as a warning
He doesn't have much time to dwell on it, all of that cast aside when he catches sight of someone very familiar trying his hardest to avoid everyone else. The relief he feels is almost as palpable as his concern as he rushes over, finally letting his expression relax after forced calm most of the morning.]
Tama!
IT'S OKAY HE FOUND HIS BOY!!!
Tamaki is on his feet in two seconds flat, expression one of pure relief. ]
Mirio! What's going on?
[ Why would Mirio know? Because...Mirio ]
HE DID HE FOUND HIM
[Which probably isn't what Tamaki wants to hear...sorry. But Mirio is just as relieved to see him, putting his hands on his shoulders and then moving them down to his forearms, as if feeling to make sure he's really...you know, there.]
You read the pamphlets already, didn't you?
no subject
[ He means he can't make hooves or wings or anything. :( Despite having, you know, lots of weird crap for breakfast as usual. ]
no subject
[He's more worried about Tamaki than himself right now though, pulling his hands from his arms so he can reach for one of his hands instead, gently bringing it close so he can turn it over to look at it, palm up.]
You're sure? You can't activate it at all? What did you eat this morning?
no subject
[ Look. When you have to eat based on your quirk, you at weird meals. ]
But none of them come back. It says I should be able to control liquids instead...if I drink them.
[ He's Unsure if he wants to try this fountain water, Mirio. ]
no subject
Mirio sighs, gritting his teeth behind his lips for a long moment as he considers his..."Quirk". It's not a terrible power by any means, but it isn't his.
It's not a relief like he imagined it might be.]
It says I should be able to create invisible forcefields. Obviously I can't...reach it easily.
[It's like starting over from scratch as a child just learning what your Quirk is.]
Tama, whatever's going on here, it has to be the work of a Villain. We'll be able to pull more information out of them once they show themselves, and they will. It's going to be alright.
no subject
Can you feel anything?
[ From the quirk he apparently now has. Tamaki's at least calmer than he has been all day in Mirio's presence... ]
Okay actual manga spoilers now you've been warned
[Mirio looks troubled, still holding Tamaki's hand even though he probably has no reason to any longer.]
I don't know. I'm not really sure what I'd be looking to feel, you know? Permeation was...well, you know.
[As easy as breathing.]
It's just as likely that this information isn't true. It could be a distraction, or something...but I guess it would be kindof silly to not try, wouldn't it?
[He laughs.]
no subject
We should both try them out. If that's what we're stuck with right now...
[ They should at least learn the ins and outs as quickly as they can. ]
Er...if we can find me something to drink.
[ He glances at the fountain water again. ]
no subject
Tamaki is totally allowed to make this a mutual thing too, especially since Mirio isn't letting go...
He does see the way Tamaki looks at the fountain again, Mirio's complexion paling.]
...if we're expected to be kept here for any amount of time, I'm sure we'll have something better to drink than stagnant water from a rusty fountain.
[He doesn't want you to be poisoned??]
no subject
We can try to find another source...except apparently not in the dining room?

II
[Ango can immediately tell what trouble Tamaki is going through. In his world, his job was to keep tabs on people with special powers, and he has become all too familiar with the confusion and lost look of someone still learning about their powers. Admittedly it's slightly different here, since Ango suspects that everyone present has powers, but still. Same idea: greet, diagnose the problem, and offer assistance. He's done this many times before, it's nothing new to him.]
Though perhaps if you specify which part you are talking about, the others here- myself included- can be of assistance?
no subject
Er - well it's more that this isn't...what my power should be at all?
no subject
Is it not? And you have confirmed that the power you currently have is not the one you were expecting to have?
