ORIENTATION

[When you start to stir from your slumber, you awaken to the smell of dust and rotted wood. Your bed is far from comfortable -- lumps in the mattress, a tattered blanket that barely keeps you warm and a pillow almost as hard as a rock-- and you'll immediately see there are others in your room with you.

All of you are confused, surely. "Where am I?" "What place is this?" Questions like that stir through your mind while you take in your surroundings. Something might catch your eye before anything else, though. A coloured chest tied with a bow, a large gift tag is attached to it with your name on it. There's one for everyone in each dorm, and if you open it you'll find:

An old, worn school uniform.
A colourful costume.
And a pamphlet with information about you, about your stay in this Academy, and a map of the layout of the school and the training grounds outside. The descriptions are vague, leaving out important details about your new super powers called "Quirks", a bland description about how you were selected to join the Academy called "VA" (no explanation what it means), and even the map has lame descriptions of locations that don't really give you a good idea of where you're staying.

Before you can start exploring, or chatting away with your neighbors, a voice rings over old intercoms. It sounds low and comforting, like a long lost friend. But there's something about that that feels.. unsettling. A feeling in your gut that this voice was anything but friendly.

"Welcome, students. You must be very confused, but I assure you I'll be able to answer all the questions you have in just a few minutes.

For now, relax, explore, and meet your new classmates who will be staying with you during this semester.

Oh, but..... whatever you do, don't enter the dining room."

The intercom cuts off, leaving you with a cryptic message to think about on top of.. everything else you're dealing with right now.]

[It's definitely less cut and dry than that, given all signs and not-so-signs so far, but Mei isn't one to be especially forthcoming. Or communicative. Or good at exposition for the most part.]

There's more. But the school is the center.

[Students, pamphlets. Nametags. The dorms they were in. There's a lot here, but see part one of this tag. So she merely looks down at the map, and then glances to the nearest window. Who knows what they can see from here, but it's the principle of the gesture.]

And all of the things that can happen at this school.

Right. It's a lot to think about, absolutely.

[Too much. The amount of information he's got to sift through mentally is just...A Lot.]

Have you found anything that might be useful, or are you still exploring yourself?

[There's a brief dip of her head. She'll accept that, even if it's both part of the problem and not quite the crux of the problem. There's always a lot going on, lately.]

I don't think... there's anything useful that anyone else hasn't found.

[Her gaze moves idly to his pamphlet, but it's more of a general indication than anything else. What they get is what they get.]

What we're supposed to be finding.

I would say...any clues as to where we are, more or less? Like, it's obvious this is a school that hasn't been in operation for a long time, but we don't know where in the world it's located.

[Basically "if I were a kidnapper where would I take 30 strangers to house them for unknown reasons"]
iseedollpeople: (But wait. I could always hollow you out.)

... It's a little like my school. In Japan, but older.

[The layouts are similar, the classroom organization, some of the names -- though she hasn't bothered to become properly acquainted with more than a handful of people. She's coming at it from an entirely different direction, because kidnapping is one of those things she hasn't had experience with, but maybe it will help.]

There isn't any working communication yet, other than the P.A.
